Easily Fulfill Your NCT Continuing Education Online with EverLearn

A CE Experience that’s Convenient, Flexible and Stress Free!

NCT Radiologic Technicians licensed to practice in the state of Texas with the Texas Medical Board (TMB) are required to complete 12 hours of NCT continuing education (CE) every 24 months. The 24 month period is based on the technicians biennial registration and not the regular calendar year.

EverLearn Radiology Continuing Education Courses
In this 24 month period one way to easily fulfill the CE requirement is to enroll in NCT continuing education online with EverLearn! All our courses are formal courses designated as Category A radiology CE credit by the ASRT, and therefore the Texas Medical Board will accept all EverLearn online CE credits for NCTs registry CE requirements.

Also, as a requirement of license renewal NCTs are required to complete a human trafficking prevention course approved by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). This is starting with renewals after September 21, 2020. Good news, the HHSC has a list of approved courses, and many are FREE! You can find the link to the approved courses here.

Formal CE Courses Versus Courses Not Approved for Formal CE

Of the 12 hours of NCT continuing education required by the TMB, 6 of those hours must be satisfied by completing formal CE courses designated as Category A or A+ credits. Good news, ALL EverLearn courses are approved as formal Category A credit so you're safe to take your NCT continuing education online with us!

The remaining 6 credit hours can be composed of courses not approved for formal Category A or A+ credits. Keep in mind if you take this route the non-formal CE courses must be documented and recorded in a manner that can be easily submitted to the Texas Medical Board upon request.

But, why go through that hassle when you can take all 12 credits formally with EverLearn ensuring a convenient and stress-free NCT continuing education online CE experience.

Upon completion of your NCT online continuing education courses with EverLearn we will automatically email your CE certificates of completion to you, which will serve as your formal documentation of the fulfillment of your CE requirements to the TMB.

Are Excess NCT Continuing Education Credits Allowed to be Carried Forward into the Next Renewal Period?

If you complete more than the required 12 CE credits hours, yes you are allowed to carry forward those excess credits into your next biennial renewal period. But do note that excess credits can’t be carried forward for more than two years.

Are there Any Content Specific Requirements of the Continuing Education Courses?

Yes, at minimum 50% of the required number of NCT credit hours (6 CEs) must be from CE courses that contain educational content directly related to the use and application of ionizing radiation in the production of diagnostic images or to administer treatment to patients for medical purposes. The remaining 50% of NCT credit hours (6 CEs) can be from CE courses in which the content is indirectly related to radiologic technology or related to the use of non-ionizing radiation for medical purposes.

Am I required to keep documentation of my NCT Continuing Education Credits?

The short answer is yes! Documentation of completed NCT continuing education credits must be made available to the Texas Medical Board upon their request. There is no requirement to submit the documentation with your registration renewal. However, random audits will be performed to assure compliance with CE requirements. If you’re audited, then documentation of completed CE credits must be provided to the board. With EverLearn this is easy as your certificates of completion of CE credits are forever stored in the EverLearn online learning system. So, if you get audited and you’ve misplaced your certificates all you have to do is sign back into your EverLearn account, re-download your certificates, and then send them off to the Texas Medical Board. It’s that easy! And, we have your back!
