The goal of this course is to familiarize radiologic technologists and other healthcare professionals with all aspects of diabetes. The course will begin by reviewing the scope and definition of diabetes, and examining its related physiology. Next, the course will classify the types of diabetes and explore their symptoms and potential complications. The course then covers considerations for the administration of intravenous iodinated contrast media in a diabetic patient taking the medication metformin, diabetic treatment options, and care management. The course concludes with a review of diabetes research and its future outlook. The majority of the modules within this course are text with images. One module contains an audio interview with a Type 2 diabetic patient.
