The goal of this course is to familiarize radiologic technologists and other healthcare professionals with ethics, communication, patient assisting and monitoring, and medical emergencies as it relates to patient care in radiography. The course begins by discussing professional ethics, healthcare rights of patients, legal matters, and civil and criminal law as it relates to healthcare delivery and the practice of radiography. Types of communication, communication challenges, and cultural differences in communication are covered. This patient care course concludes with information about monitoring and assessing a patient’s health status, identifying and responding to medical emergencies, and identifying and responding to allergic reactions to iodinated contrast media during radiologic exams and procedures. The majority of the modules within this course are text with images. Two modules contain audio interviews.
